The nutty finish rounds out this elegant, sophisticated smoking experience.” Packaged in boxes of 25, the Davidoff Robusto Maduro retails at $387.50 per box and $15.50 per stick.

New Pioneer Valley Especiales from CVE

CVE Cigars has released a new cigar which uses both Connecticut Valley Shade and Broadleaf tobaccos in both the classic and maduro versions of its medium-bodied Pioneer Valley Especiales, or PVE. The PVE is made in the Dominican Republic at Tabacelera el Torcedor under the supervision of master blender Luis Cuevas, who also grows piloto-Cubano tobacco in the Cibao Valley of the Dominican Republic for the PVE.

The PVE classic uses Dominican filler and Connecticut Valley Broadleaf as binder, and Connecticut Valley Shade as wrapper, while the PVE maduro uses Connecticut Valley Broadleaf wrapper and Connecticut Valley Shade binder. Cuevas describes the cigar as “very tasty and well-balanced,” and calls the Connecticut River Valley, “the best place in the world” to grow cigar wrapper.

The PVE classic is available in Churchill, corona, robusto, and torpedo sizes, suggested retail $4.99 to $5.25 each, and the PVE maduro is available in Churchill, robusto, torpedo, and toro sizes, $5.25 to $5.49 retail.

Fundación Ancestral Line Extended with Two New Maduros

The Fundación Ancestral Luxury Cigar Line from Costa Rica’s Tabacos de la Cordillera has been expanded with two Maduro additions: the Vuelta Arriba 1942 and Villa Clara 1943. Cordillera grows all its own leaf from seeds coming from “Cuba’s Golden Age of tobacco and cigars,” according to director and tobacco geneticist John Vogel. “Cuban researchers developed and introduced these five blends’ seeds in the legendary growing regions of the island, from 1940 through 1944. These first of these two latest varieties was catalogued only as ‘Villa Clara 1943.’ The origin of the second seeds was located more scenically in Villa Clara Province’s world-renowned Vuelta Arriba region, in 1942. They join three existing, natural-wrapper blends - Vuelta Abajo 1940, Pinar del Rio 1941, and Artemisa 1944 - with tobaccos grown from seeds introduced in these farming areas in the years shown.”

In addition to the all-Costa-Rican tobaccos, The Fundación Ancestral series also uses the etubado bunching Cuban method of cigar rolling, called Dead-Center Ligero, and finally, is finished with a panuelo (handkerchief) cap for easier cutting and to prevent unraveling.

The Vuelta Arriba 1942 and Villa Clara 1943 will be available in Churchill, corona, robusto, and torpedo sizes, range in price from $10.50 to $12 each, and are packaged in bitter cedar boxes of 25, as well as in 5-pack Fundación Ancestral samplers.

Quirky Newcomer Kangaroo Alley Marks First Anniversary

Espinosa y Ortega Debuts New Cubao

Espinosa y Ortega, otherwise known as EO Brands, has debuted Cubao cigar line, named after the taino word for “fertile soil.” The Cubao uses Nicaraguan tobaccos for filler and binder, and Ecuadorian Sumatra as wrapper, and is made at Pepin Garcia’s Tabacalera Cubana S.A. in Esteli, Nicaragua. The Cubao is offered in six sizes: No.1 (7 1/8 x 49), No.2 (6 1/8 x 52 torpedo), No.3 (7 1/2 x 38 lancero), No.4 (4 7/8 x 50), No. 5 (6 1/8 x 50), and No.6 (5 1/2 x 52).

Davidoff Ultra-Premium Luxury Cigarettes Now Availalble in U.S.

Commonwealth Brands, Inc., an Imperial Tobacco Group company, has introduced Davidoff cigarettes into the U.S. domestic market for the first time.

Davidoff is Imperial Tobacco’s lead international strategic brand, and one of the top luxury cigarette brands in the world, already well-established in over 100 countries with particular areas of strength throughout markets in Greece, Taiwan, and the Middle East.

Manufactured to the highest quality standards utilizing a fine blend of Burley, Virginia, and Oriental tobaccos, Davidoff was the first brand to introduce an octagon-shaped pack - a unique, contemporary design that helps to better protect the cigarettes inside. The foil inside the pack is specially coated to protect the cigarettes and the freshness of the tobacco, while a premium film is heat-sealed around the pack using a special vacuum process, retaining a higher level of moisture than most films allow.

Different markets require different blends to best match the taste expectations of their consumers, and the Davidoff blend used in the United States product has been carefully matched to meet the demands of smokers here. Initially, four styles are available: Davidoff Classic, Davidoff Lights, Davidoff Menthol, and Davidoff Menthol Lights.
