Hacker’s Pipesmoking - A 21st Century Guide
Widely recognized author and pipe smoking authority Richard Carleton Hacker has announced his newest book, Pipesmoking - A 21st Century Guide. The 160-page softcover, which includes over 80 never-before-published photographs, will be introduced at the RTDA. “With pipe smoking on the increase,” said Hacker, “I felt that it was time to launch a book that everyone could read, a book that would impart the joys and relaxing benefits of meeting the 21st century head-on with a good pipe and the knowledge of how to smoke it.” Pipesmoking - A 21st Century Guide will include chapters on pipe making, pipe buying, pipe smoking, tobacco selection, and, for the first time, a tobacco taster’s sampling of over 100 commercially available blends. In addition, there will be a pipesmoker’s sourcebook, listing various pipe publications and organizations. Hacker is a member of both the Confrérie des Maîtres-Pipiers and the Académie Internationale de la Pipe, and was Germany’s Pipe Knight of the Year. The author’s previous book, The Ultimate Pipe Book, is now out of print; only copies of his limited-edition, Rare Smoke - The Ultimate Guide To Pipe Collecting, remain available. The Pipe Book by Dunhill Rereleased by Lyons
The Pipe Book by Alfred Dunhill, is a new facsimile of the definitive work on the subject on its 75th anniversary of publication. The new edition features a preface by grandson Richard Dunhill. Alfred Dunhill’s manuscript for his book evolved from a passion to be a better tobacconist. Collecting examples of pipes from around the world, he was able to understand and better serve his customers. Dunhill’s Longitude Pipe
To celebrate the Millennium and the year 2000 Alfred Dunhill has produced the Longitude a Limited Edition pipe of 2000. This 1/2 gm shell briar billiard is fitted with a polished stainless steel rim mount which has the names of world cities embossed around the top. Below the rim is a gold plated rotating bezel that is calibrated into 24 sections representing the time in hours and a red dot indicating the 00/24 position.
