PRODUCTS AND NEWS FROM THE PIPE WORLD

The Coolest Pipe in the World
The brainchild of Mars, Pennsylvania's William Curran, "The Striker" touts itself as "the coolest pipe in the world." It offers a cool smoke because of its considerable heft but, while size indeed matters, there's more to the Striker than a lengthy stem. A chiropractor, Curran has devised a convoluted system of tubes within the stem, which increases the smoke channel to about seven times its size. When your pipe smoke ambles through approximately two feet of aluminum tubing before reaching you, it makes for the coolest smoke imaginable. The Striker also breaks down and reassembles very easily, making for simple cleanings.

Curran, who's smoked a pipe for the last quarter century, says the "bite and burn" of traditional pipe smoking sent him to the drawing room with the Striker in mind. "This pipe will never bite you," he comments. "Its coolness is easy on your nasal passages, allowing you to enjoy your tobacco's flavor that much more."

Zippo's Pipe Master
Here's a handy, multi-function pocket tool for pipe smokers from the makers of Zippo lighters. The Pipe Master has everything one needs to prep their pipe, plus some nifty extras. There's a bowl reamer, a pipe tamp, and a knife that covers the basics, as well as a file — manicured nails are a sign of intellect, notes the manufacturer — and a money clip. The Pipe Master is finished in brushed chrome and features a lifetime warranty. Zippo offers customers custom-engraving for the ideal gift. Suggested retail, $24.95.

A Fancy New Leap for Frog Morton
Lovers of the original Frog Morton blend — a rich, dark, full Latakia mixture soft enough for all-day smoking — will want to try the newest addition to the line: Frog Morton on the Town. Wearing top hat and tails, the debonair amphibian presides over an even softer, mellow Frog Morton blend: fragrant with Oriental tobaccos, smooth and rich with Latakia. An evening at the opera?
